1924In the year 1924, Theo Steil established a scrap trade business on Paulinstrasse, laying the foundations for the recycling of scrap, metal, textiles and paper waste.
1964Heinrich Gondert took over the company, which had eight employees at the time.
1966/67His sons, Klaus and Johannes Gondert, joined the company. Relocation to larger business premises on Metternichstrasse.
1970/71Commissioning of 500 tonne heavy shears and expansion of the hall to include a large paper press.
197450-year anniversary of the Theo Steil company.
1978Relocation to today’s business premises in the Trier harbour.
1986Establishment of the first branch in Cologne.
1989Separation of company divisions into: Theo Steil GmbH, scrap and metal wholesale trade, and Containerdienst Steil GmbH, waste paper and container services.
1991Establishment of the forwarding company Gotra GmbH in Luxembourg.
1995Establishment of the hazardous waste company Theo Steil Kreislaufwirtschaft (SKW).
2003The Trier premises of Theo Steil GmbH are expanded to include a shredding plant.
2008Johannes Gondert becomes the sole shareholder.
2009Containerdienst Steil and SKW become Steil Entsorgung GmbH.
2011Establishment of an export branch of Theo Steil GmbH in Dordrecht (NL).
2013Stephan Gondert leads the company in its third generation.The total tonnage handled by the corporate group is more than 1.8 million tonnes and more than 780 employees work at 13 locations.
201490-year anniversary of the Steil group.
